ا ب س ع ن م ل ک ر د شعر دل

B2 to C1 · For the Pakistani diaspora

Your Urdu grew up at the kitchen table.

You speak Urdu with your family, warmly and fluently. But it stopped growing the day you grew up. This is how you take your inherited Urdu and make it a full, adult, cultured command of your heritage, deep enough to pass on.

🍳

Your Urdu is fluent but frozen

You can talk family, food and feelings. But ideas, opinions, the adult world? There the words run out.

🕰️

You speak your parents' Urdu, not today's

Your Urdu froze the year your family left. Modern Pakistan speaks, jokes and writes in ways you half-recognise.

🎭

You hear the words but miss the soul

A ghazal, a qawwali, a line your grandfather loved. You catch the meaning but not the depth underneath.

👶

You're scared of being the last link

Your kids answer in English. You feel the language thinning with each generation. You don't want it to end with you.

واپسی

What if you could own it?

Not just inherit a few warm words, but possess the whole language. Argue, joke, console and dream in Urdu. Feel every layer of a ghazal your grandfather recited. And give your children a living language, not a fading memory. This is the Urdu that brings you all the way home.

What you'll reclaim

فکر

An Adult Voice

Move past family talk into ideas, opinions, emotion and abstraction. Hold a real conversation about anything, not just the everyday.

آج

Today's Living Urdu

Reconnect with the Urdu Pakistan actually speaks now: its media, its humour, its modern voice, not the version frozen in time.

روح

The Soul of Your Roots

Feel the poetry in qawwalis, the weight of a ghazal, the philosophy behind the verses your elders quoted. Reconnect through culture.

نسل

A Language to Pass On

Become the link, not the last link. Gain the confident command that lets you raise children who truly carry the language forward.

An advanced path: B2 to C1

This is a genuinely advanced specialization. It assumes you already speak and read Urdu (B1 or above). You will not be relearning the alphabet here. If you cannot yet read the script, start with our foundation course (A1 to B1) or choose the bundle below, which includes it.

Before you decide

Who is this specialization really for?

For diaspora Pakistanis who already speak Urdu, fluently or nearly so, but feel it stopped growing at the family level. If you can hold a conversation but struggle with ideas, culture and depth, this is built for you. It takes your inherited Urdu and makes it a full, adult command of the language.

I can't read or write the script yet. Can I start here?

Not with this course alone. This is an advanced specialization that assumes you can already read Urdu. If you cannot yet read the script, begin with our foundation course (A1 to B1), which teaches reading and writing from zero. The easiest path is the bundle below: it includes the full foundation, then this specialization, taking you all the way from the alphabet to mastery.

My Urdu is fluent but only about everyday things. Is that a problem?

That is exactly the starting point this course is designed for. Most of the diaspora speaks a warm but limited Urdu: family, food, feelings. This specialization fills the gaps your family never covered (ideas, opinions, culture) and lifts you to a complete adult command.

How is this different from your Poetry course?

The Poetry specialization studies Urdu literature for its own sake: form, technique, the great poets as art. This Diaspora course touches poetry too, but as a way home: understanding the verses your elders carried, reconnecting with your roots. The angle is identity, not literary study.

How long will it take?

At 3 to 4 hours per week, expect to reach a confident, cultured command in about 6 months. Because you already speak, progress is faster than you think. Every lesson builds on Urdu you already carry.

Is access really for life?

Your roots are waiting.

Every year you wait, the language thins a little more. In your own voice, in your children's. The way back is open. It starts with one decision.
